Firetruck housetruck
Got a phone call from Mike on the weekend saying he had bumped into a couple in Trentham who had just picked up a converted Mack firetruck. They were heading back to his for a cuppa and he invited me along alas, I couldn’t get out of prison, so asked him to forward some pics.
On Monday on the way to the orifice, I turned up Haywards hill heading past the quarry and there was this big red behemoth trying to get across the road from out of the quarry. Trying to get out from there is really only possible at that time of the morning if courteousness by other drivers is provided. Yea I know. This IS Wellingbum we are talking about so am guessing they were stuck there for hours. Nice looking rig by the way.
Anyway, good travelling to the new owners. Hope you enjoy it when you finally get her on the road, and if you read this, feel free to comment and give up some details.

Great to see you back in NZ. I hope you had a great holiday. I look forward to seeing you both again. I really hope you enjoy your truck and get lots of time away. Do keep in touch.
Greetings fellow non rat racers! We are the proud owners of the Mac Fire Truck, we purchased it a week prior to going overseas for a holiday. Holiday over now and finally have the beast in our possession here in Nelson. So excited, so much to learn and do to put our mark on it – as you do. But crikey where do we start lol! Just joined this site tonight and can see what a valuable tool it will be – raping and pilaging brains for some great ideas.

Daisycutter… it is always good to see new “non-rat-race” people.
Might I suggest that you start you hunt for that perfect truck in the near future. That way youcan get to enjoy its “comforts” prior to your moving in permanently. That way you get to see fi anything needs to be changed or modified/repaired for your own likings. Also to save having to do a lot of maintenance on your new “home” and less time enjoying the lifestyle. Also lets you know how everything works. (and lets you see and enjoy some of the countryside). The right bus/truck will jump out at you as soon as you see it. It did for me anyways.
Kiaora and greetings from Bunnythorpe,Feilding.Have just registed on this site as I plan to flee the rat-race within the next couple of years, and buy a house bus/ truck, and mabye park it on the coast, (poss.southern Wairarapa)rather than travel, and work in the area I settle. I work in healthcare, working with clients with brain injuries at present.I’m also an artist (Daisycutter art) with carvings in a top local gallery, and I’m involved in music projects, doing the freejazz thing, recording and performing with friends. After thinking long and hard about what setup I could live in ,I have become focused on older character buses/trucks, rather than a modern dwelling.Too sterile for me.I like the look of that truck in Tauranga for $20,000,for instance.I love lofts and querky design.I see a lot of these on trademe and know there will always a good selection to choose from when I take the plung ,in the next year or so. I look forward to reading your stories and advice on this website. Last of all,my heart goes out to those who have lost their homes to fire, esp. the chap who had just bought his setup.Arohamai.
