Lyn. The Gypsy Travellers visit the Wellington area. They usuallyhave a fair at Petone, Wainuiomata and Upper Hutt. I am not familiar with the timetable of the "Gypsy Fair". They are 2 different groups. Please do keep an eye on this page for more information.

Where is BOUNTY??? I sold my 74 Bedford truck to a lovely(pregnant)girl called Billie from Warkworth way, back in 2006/7.Have been thinking about them alot lately and was wondering if anyone knows of their whereabouts. The truck was christened Bounty by the builders, Shane and Leslie Moon from Kerikeri. She has a dark stained timber exterior with exposed native timber interior, 2 lofts, a red flower leadlight window above the cab, a small round window above the bathroom sink along with lots of other leadlights. Thanks for the website, it makes me miss her even more!

Sylvia, for places to stay check out the "motorcamps.com" web site. It has button to allow different variiations of what each camp site requirments you have. Also if you look for "seasonal work" web sites I am sure you will find all you need. Or after you start you travels approach other travellers as you see them and politely ask. Many will be helpful, I am sure. Best of luck. I am sure Stu would love a pic of your truck/bus for this site you you have one.

hi,
just found your website googling.
We're touring around Oz at the moment until January 2011 (see website) and are inverstigating living in our bus after we come back to NZ.
So any info is welcome e.g. work on the road, places to stay beside campinggrounds, costs etc.
Not sure if this is the right place but maybe you've got some other ideas where to get info from.
Thanks for your time
Cheers

Kia ora Kishai :-) Thanks for enlightening me! That's lovely to hear about the history of Gypsies in NZ. I've not known any people of Hungarian, Romanian, Czech descent, nor English or Irish Gypsies, but probably I was asking the wrong questions. I will pay more attention now. I'm sorry to hear that Gypsies aren't safe to be always open about themselves even here.

I will keep an eye out for your flag.

cheers,
astar
