This is the other member of our family that recently went trekking towards the great white light. Appropriate really. The old white wizard Merlin was as deaf as a doornail and motorists would have to drive around him as he lay basking in the middle of the road. Just glad that the motorists did actually drive around him. The old bugger was kidnapped once by a mad cat lady, and promplty returned when he gave her a piece of his mind.

He was a bit of a bully, but we blame that on his lack of hearing. I mean wouldn’t you be put out if you didn’t hear me sneaking up on you putting  the frighterners on?

Another great cat gone but not forgotten, helping the mighty Pohtakawa sprout its wings on the hill above our kingdom…

The Flying Tortoise – an oldie but a goodie

Her real name was Charm because that is what she was. A charm. The cutest little puddy tat you could ever meet. She was one of those cats that could sleep anywhere. A Pizza box, on top of the fireplace, in a pot plant, on the tv…She even got locked in the linen cupboard for a day as she was napping on the towels.

She wouldn’t take any rubbish from the other three male cats in the house, and she always got the royal treament from te boy. He’d share his dinner with her off the same plate, no problems at all, then they’d toddle off downstairs where she would curl up on his lap while he was online gaming.

We noticed she had stopped eating recently, and had become really talkative, so we took her to the vet who told us the bad news that her liver was failing. Anything she was eating was basically poisoning her and the most humane thing to do was to have her put to sleep. She was only 9 (human years) and we hoped to get a lot more mileage out of her.

She will be sadly missed, and impossible to replace.

Was sorting my photos – thought you would like to see this one of a two-tank LPG motor scooter.  There is a little tape on this one, but not as much as I saw on others.  Most of the scooters were either electric or LPG so you didn’t hear them coming (and they could drive on footpath!)
